Make The World Better With a Sweater
/Christmas is the time for giving and here at CCC we decided to get into the true spirit of Christmas and take part in Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day 2014. The rules were simple; wear a festive sweater, make a donation, and spread the jumper joy!
Now in its third year, the woolly revolution has already raised over £1.6 million and this year the government is matching every pound donated. Just £2 can buy potentially life-saving antibiotics for three babies whilst £200 can buy enough high energy peanut paste to treat 40 malnourished children for a week. A little most certainly goes a long way.
The team here threw themselves into the task with their usual enthusiasm, and there was a fantastic array of jumpers on show. Even Event Managers that were heading out to run events made sure they got in on the action before they left.
Just to build excitement and add a little competition, we made sure there was a prize for the winning jumper. Our lovely Event Manager Fiona was the lucky winner, with a home made jumper that included lights, tinsel and a stocking with treats for everyone in! A fantastic sweater by all accounts.
We had a great day. We’re always looking for new ways to build motivation and teamwork, and we had a lot of fun whilst contributing to a really worthwhile cause. Team Building for Charity
/CCC Events are experts at providing clients with a good solid team building activity to meet particular needs or just a good fun day out as a reward. One great way to encourage staff teams to really throw themselves into their competitive nature is to provide incentives, and one way to do this is to play for charity!
Take for example the recent Starcom V's MediaVest Games, who chose to hold their annual team building event at Beaumont House in Windsor. The clients request was to design an Olympic style event involving sporting games for 400 people - an amazing 42 teams! What's more, Starcom were playing for Centrepoint and MediaVest for The Fred Foundation, both charities close to their hearts - and they were playing for money. £1000 to be donated to the charity of the winner!
With £1000 at stake and 21 teams playing for each charity, the seven fantastic activities were ready and waiting to be played. From target tennis and go-karts, to a giant ski biathlon and our hilarious (and rather wet) 4 x 400ml relay were some of the best! But the Human Table Football pitch was a sure favourite of the day, where team members are harnessed to the giant table football poles and have to try and score goals in the opponents end. It's hilarious to watch, as naturally it's hard to play football when you can only move sideways! There was a lot to play for and the scores for each of the charities teams would be totalled at the end of the fun filled day!
The staff on the day put the teams to the test on one area to the next in half hour slots, and the midway scores at lunch time gave them the incentive to give it their all in the afternoon to try and beat the opposition. Starcom, playing for the charity Centrepoint, had taken the lead by just a few points!
The whistles were blown at full time in the activity fields and the teams flocked to the outdoor bar for a well earned beer! The teams had slogged their guts out for a full day of hardcore sporting activities and this was the moment they were all waiting for... the final scores.
And the winner is... MediaVest playing for The Fred Foundation! The teams roar in glory and there is jumping for joy across the field. But then an even more generous gesture is made... they announce that Centrepoint also deserve a donation for Starcom's points and they are going to match the winnings for both charities! That was £1000 donated to both charities for everyone's efforts for the day. Ahhhh, everyone's a winner, and fun was had by all!

CCC Joins Compton Hospice Fundraising Day in Wolverhampton
/Team CCC recently had a great day working for the fantastic Compton Hospice Charity, in West Park Wolverhampton, where they were trying to raise money and awareness for the hospice by putting on a family fun day. It's just the kind of thing that the Team Building Company of the Year like to do with their weekends...
The Compton Hospice does some really amazing and selfless work and so it was a charity that CCC were very happy to be working for.
Compton Hospice has been supporting patients facing a life-limiting illness, and their families, for 30 years; Our purpose is to make a difference to people’s lives when their illness is no longer curable; We do this by treating people, not conditions, whether their needs are physical, psychological, social or spiritual.
I was more than happy to get involved in the day, travelling up north with my team, loaded up with off-road radio controlled cars, giant board games, archery, laser clay pigeon shooting and of course, our enormous mobile climbing and abseiling tower!
On the day we were not totally convinced that our British summer weather was planning to be on its best behaviour, so we took plenty of provisions to keep the public (and ourselves!) dry - but the heavens were smiling on us and the majority of the day was actually sunny!
We saw thousands of families from Wolverhampton throughout the day coming to have a go at all the activities - most impressively many children who were brave enough to reach the top of our 40 foot climbing wall - one seven year old even informed me that it was 'no big deal' and that he would 'triple somersault off the top if we let him' - kids eh? For some reason I decided not to tell him that I had only made it half way up that morning...
Our experienced climbing instructors took each participant through a one-on-one session all the way to the top of the tower making sure everyone made it safely and with a new found love of climbing.
Even our staff got involved in the action - here you can see Kenny, one of our most experienced team members, looking particularly proud of himself for making it all the way to the top!
All in all it was a marvellous day to be a part of and we can't wait to get involved in the next one - perhaps we'll even win the raffle this time!
If you think your team are brave enough to face our climbing wall or even try our abseiling or death slide events why not get in touch and talk to one of our team about our outdoor events on 0845 006 06 06 or visit our website for more details.
